Donna Channel Drainage Improvements Project Groundbreaking
The City of Taylor is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of work on the Donna Channel Drainage Improvements Project.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 2:00 p.m. near the intersection of Davis Street and Brookwood Circle in Taylor, Texas. This event was rescheduled from December due to inclement weather.
The Donna Channel Drainage Improvements Project was identified as the top priority in the 2020 Drainage Master Plan. The Donna Channel area—behind homes near Donna Drive—has undersized drainage infrastructure that contributes to localized flooding.
The project includes constructing a regional detention pond north of Mallard Lane, installing new storm drains and inlets along Mallard Lane, and making structural improvements to the Donna Channel. These improvements include repairing channel slopes, banks, and retaining walls; replacing the cross-culvert at Drake Lane; replacing the pedestrian bridge in Bull Branch Park; and replacing the asphalt trail in Bull Branch Park with concrete.
Together, these upgrades will reduce flood risk along Bull Branch and around the regional detention pond, benefiting approximately 50 nearby homes.
