Parks Projects

Welcome to the Taylor Parks and Recreation Department's project hub, your one-stop destination for a glimpse into the exciting developments that are shaping our vibrant community. At the heart of our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all residents and visitors is our dedication to the continual improvement and expansion of our parks, recreational facilities, and programs.

Here, we invite you to explore a dynamic showcase of our current and upcoming projects that promise to transform Taylor into an even more inviting and enjoyable place to live, work, and play.

Bull Branch Park Playground

In early 2023, the Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Public Works Department removed the previous playground from Bull Branch Park as it was deemed unsafe for use. Whirlix Design Incorporated was approved for replacement of the playground.

The new playground will feature:

  • “Tree Tops” Concept
  • Additional Swings
  • Zip Line Feature
  • Slides
  • Vine Climber

Estimated Timeline

  • Anticipated completion of the installation of the new playground will be Spring 2024.

Doris Roznovak Aquatic Center Reconstruction

In an effort to revitalize the Doris Roznovak Aquatic Center, the City of Taylor Parks and Recreation Department will soon embark on a reconstruction project. Our City's pool has long been a place for residents of the Taylor community to gather and make memories with family and friends.

Estimated Timeline

  • Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) for design services open August 2023
  • Anticipated construction to begin September 2024
  • Expected new pool opening in May 2025

Take the survey!

We're inviting everyone to participate in a survey to help shape the reconstruction of the Doris Rosnovak Aquatic Center!

This survey was previously open last year and we've reopened it to anyone who may have not had a chance to participate. This survey will be open until noon on February 7, so please take a few moments to share your feedback and encourage other members of the community to participate as well.

Heritage Square Splashpad

The Heritage Square Splashpad is currently undergoing some changes and our visitors can soon get back to enjoying cooling off during the hot summer days ahead of us.

Reconstruction has begun and there are some exciting changes and upgrades ahead. To help stabilize our shifting Blackland soil, the contractor will be injecting the soil with chemicals that will help with shifting - which means no more ponding around the splashpad making it safer for our visitors. The chemicals are safe, non-toxic, and water-soluble.

There will be 360-degree illuminating LED light fixtures and a new spray play splash deck that will be slip-resistant.

The deck and sidewalk around the splashpad will also be replaced to reduce trip hazards throughout the area.

We thank everyone for their patience while visiting Heritage Square during the splashpad reconstruction!
