City of Taylor Project Updates - Week of March 24, 2025

2024 Street Maintenance (TH Johnson/Bill Pickett, Lake, Mallard) 

  • March 25, 2025 - Working on getting contracts signed with Texas Road. Will not start construction until at least May. 

MLK Sidewalk 

  • March 25, 2025 – 60% Design Submittal to TXDOT this week. Working through some unknowns on property alignments relative to the planned sidewalk and drainage work needed as a part of the project. 

Fire Stations 1 & 2

  •  March 25, 2025 – Cost Estimates submitted to Fire Department. 

Facilities Master Plan

  • March 25, 2025 – Updated schedule to complete will be sent to the City by the end of this week. HDR has started work on a feasibility study for a building on Edmond street in consideration for new Public Works, Utility Maintenance, and Fleet facility.

Sidewalk, Bikes, Trails Master Plan and ADA Transition Plan

  • March 25, 2025 – Parks and trails are done for ADA analysis. Working on north side of downtown. Existing conditions analysis should be done this week.

Transportation Alternatives Grants (FM 3349 Shared Use Path & Cross-Town Connector)

  • March 25, 2025 – Detailed application submittal window is April 16 – June 20. HDR is meeting with TXDOT first week of April to discuss feedback on project proposals. They are also working to get detailed submittals ready for the submittal dates.

2022 Street Maintenance (2nd, 4th, Mallard)

  • March 25, 2025 – Speed study results anticipated this week. Awaiting report from Geotech on warranty submissions for seal coat on 4th and 2nd. Anticipated this week.

Donna Channel

  • March 25, 2025 – The Texas Water Development Board finally completed the next step in their process and issued an approved Engineering Feasibility Report. Plan review is now in process which is supposed to be a faster process than EFR approval.

Mustang Creek Detention

  • March 25, 2025 – The creek was pumped out last week and 1700 fish and mussels were relocated downstream to enable continued work.

Travis/Franklin Drainage

  • March 25, 2025 – The Texas Water Development Board finally completed the next step in their process and issued an approved Engineering Feasibility Report. Plan review is now in process which is supposed to be a faster process than EFR approval.

Water/Wastewater CDBG Grant Project

  • March 25, 2025 – Team met on 3/14 to discuss projects and application dates. The deadline to apply is April 10. Potential projects include Annie Street between 7th and 4th and West 5th Street between Fowzer and Vance. The potential project costs are $572,800 and $450,000 respectively.

Highway 79 Sewer Phase 1

  • March 25, 2025 - Expect to receive executed contracts today. Will then set up preconstruction meeting. 

Highway 79 Sewer Phase 2

  • March 25, 2025 - Current Alignments under review for constructability issues. Will forward to environmental and cultural teams to review next. 

Bull Branch Upsizing Phase 1

  • March 25, 2025 – Preconstruction meeting conducted on 3/13. Received second UPRR agreement. Received materials testing proposal for work. Revieing before sending to Council for approval. 

Tammi Lane Sewer Line

  • March 25, 2025 - Finally received 4th right of entry needed to complete field investigation. This was holding up survey. Waiting on easement exhibits from surveyor to start easement negotiations. 

LCRR

  • March 25, 2025 - Billing issues have been resolved and a new purchase order will be issued this week to continue work. 1,500 services still need to be checked. Should take another 80 days to complete investigations. 

Water Supply Evaluation

  • Complete. 

W/WW/WWTP Master Plan 

  • Still working on scope and fees. Presenting at the EDC board meeting tomorrow for approval. WWTP plan will follow W/WW plan as it will inform demands and loading.

Murphy Street CDBG Waterline

  • March 25, 2025 – Langford has received the agreement with Wilco for the CDBG grant. Scope and fee are in review. Planned for 4/10 council meeting. 

Cemetery Office Building

  • March 25, 2025 - Still awaiting archeological THC input. Building has been determined to not be architecturally historic. 

Backup Generation

  • March 25, 2025 - Building maintenance received training on maintaining systems last week. Considering adding required circuit breaker for city hall project.

Airport Ramp Reconstruction

  • March 25, 2025 - Testing densities on helipad last week. Base is going in this week for phase 4. 

TRP Synthetic Turf

  • March 25, 2025 – HDR is requesting a proposal to do some geotech bores to plan for turf and ensure it lasts and to get better cost estimates from contractors. 

Doris Roznovak Aquatic Center

  • March 25, 2025 – Trenching to begin this week for electrical and water lines. Started assembling pool wall with rebar and shell. Working to update 3D renderings with real color selections. 

Murphy Park Trails

  • March 25, 2025 - Completed planset. Routing to TF Harper to get proposal and combine with 2024 Bond Parks Projects. May incorporate proposal with Bull Branch Improvements.
