Pierce Park Ribbon Cutting

TAYLOR, Texas – The City of Taylor will host a ceremony honoring the Pierce Family for their generous donation of the land used for the Pierce Park skate park on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The ceremony will include Mayor Brandt Rydell, guest speakers, a dedication, and a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The event will begin at 4 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend.

Pierce Park is part of the City’s Downtown Master Plan. Groundbreaking for Pierce Park began in December 2017 and opened to the public in February 2019. The park was funded in part by a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and Certificates of Obligation bonds. The land was donated by Chisum Pierce to honor his late father, Lieutenant Commander Thomas Floyd Pierce. Project LOOP, a Taylor-based nonprofit, also raised significant funds for the park with their 50/50 initiative. Evergreen Skateparks out of Portland, Oregon, served as the contractor.
