TAYLOR, Texas –Following a national search for a new Finance Director, Interim City Manager Jeff Jenkins ispleased to announce that the City of Taylor has hired Jeffrey Wood. Mr. Wood, who will be coming to Texasfrom Michigan, has served as the Treasurer of the Muskegon Charter Township since 2008. He will begin hisnew duties with the City of Taylor on March 18, taking over the reins from long-time Finance DirectorRosemarie Dennis, who has held the position since 2006. Ms. Dennis, who submitted her resignation inOctober 2018, will retire at the end of March.Mr. Wood holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University andcompleted the Seidman Financial Planning Certificate Program from Grand Valley State in 2004. Mr. Woodis a Certified Financial Planner, and has served on the Planning Commission for the Muskegon CharterTownship since 2010.Mr. Jenkins said that Mr. Wood stood out from the other candidates because his background andexperience seemed well suited to the City of Taylor. “I think that Mr. Wood’s financial perspective will allowhim to not only maintain our finances, but also help us manage our financial picture effectively andefficiently as our City continues to grow. He has a lot of great experience working with a tight budget, and Ifeel confident that he will do a good job of helping us stay on track. I’m looking forward to welcoming himto Texas.”Mr. Wood will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, includingbudget preparation, policy development and interpretation, and preparation of financial reports. He willalso provide assistance on strategic and tactical matters related to budget management, cost benefitanalysis, financial forecasting, long range financial planning, utility billing, and securing new funding, as wellas monitoring the financial status of the City.
