City Manager Isaac Turner has announced after a nationwide search, the hiring of a new Parks and Recreation Department Director is complete. Larry Foos begins work with the City of Taylor on Monday, June 4, 2018. He has worked in the field for more than 30 years. He most recently was the Parks and Recreation Director with the City of Hutto. In Texas, Foos has also worked for the cities of Cedar Hill, Missouri City and Odessa, as well as for cities in Colorado and New Mexico.
“We are very pleased that Mr. Foos will be joining our Taylor management team,” said City Manager Isaac Turner. “Staff and I look forward to working with him. His experience with parks and recreation is extensive. At this time when we are working on many parks projects, he will be able to spearhead those to completion.”
Foos’ past accomplishments include being the recipient of many awards from the Texas Recreation and Parks Society. He has developed recreation programs for special populations, activity camps, sports and fitness programs, health and wellness education programs, developed skate parks, in-line hockey and tennis courts, as well as a BMX track. He has managed oversight of recreation construction projects, including a recreation center, tennis dome, park entrance and a train track expansion.
