Zachary Beeler was born in Austin and grew up in Pflugerville.  He graduated from the University of Texas San Antonio three years ago with a degree in Athletic Medicine.  After working as a personal trainer for 2 years, which he still continues to do in his time off, he decided to do more with his life and for the community which led him to pursue the career of firefighting.  In his free time, Zac likes to be active by practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and working out with his girlfriend of 3 years.  He also likes to read and watch movies and TV.

Nathanael Gilstrap started with the department in June.  He served in the Air Force for 4 years and is currently in the Air National Guard.  He wanted to be a firefighter his whole life and is excited to have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Taylor.  Nathanael is married and has a 3-month old daughter.  He enjoys woodworking, kayaking, fishing, and spending time with his family and their dog.

Brock (2)
Colton Brock is one of our newest members.  Originally from Georgetown, he served in the Navy for 4 years and when discharged from the military, he was able to pursue his dream of becoming a firefighter.  He is married to his high school sweetheart and they have a 2-year old daughter.  Colton is an avid salt and freshwater fisherman and also loves to dove and deer hunt, swim in lakes and rivers, and look for fossils.  Spending time with his family, close friends, and dogs is what makes him happy!

June 2017

Nathan Dominguez started with the department in February, making his dream of always wanting to become a firefighter come true.  He is a New Year's baby and enjoys spending time with his 4-year old Labrador Retriever named Dixie.  When he's not on duty, Nathan is working at the moving company he bought a year ago and co-owns with his father.

Congratulations are due to Ryan Carlton who just promoted to Lieutenant from Driver!  He started with the department in 2005 and really enjoys the camaraderie with his fellow firefighters .  Ryan loves spending time with his family - wife Sam & daughters Page and Lula - and his hobbies include hunting and water skiing.

Jimmy Wade from Aquilla, Texas is 19 years old and one of our newest members after joining the department in February. He says he is now living his lifelong dream of being a firefighter!  His hobbies include outdoor activities like hunting and fishing and he really enjoys spending time with family and friends.  JR, as he likes to be called, recently moved to Waco with his girfriend Kaylee.

Tim Davis
Tim Davis is a Lieutenant who has been with the department for 18 years and is also an Inspector.  He says that the best part about his job is inspiring others to be better.  He has proven to be a great leader and enjoys the camaraderie at the department.  Tim has three kids, two boys and a girl, and loves to play baseball with them.  His personal passion is hunting and he also likes to BBQ on the weekend.

February 2017

Willie Gore attended the 2015 Citizen's Fire Academy and became a member of the Response Support Team upon graduation.  He was born in Taylor and after high school joined the Air Force and served our country from 1963-1967 stationed at Bien Hoa Air Base, Vietnam.  After leaving the military, he became a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Upon retirement in 1987, he purchased two Golden Chick restaurants which he owned and operated until 2001.  Willie is married to his lovely wife Louise and enjoys working in his greenhouse and garden.

January 2017

Joining us last month to begin his firefighting career is Braden Torrez, the department's newest member.  He grew up in Houston and graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement.  He hopes to one day advance his career and pursue other law enforcement routes.  He previously worked as a personal fitness trainer, which led him to instructing P.E. at an elementary school.  His hobbies include fitness, nutrition, learning about his new career, and spending time with his family.  He is excited to welcome into the world in May his first child.  It's a girl!

Diane Ekiss was born in Los Angeles, CA but has been in Texas for most of her life. She retired from her career as an administrative assistant when she and husband Pat moved to Taylor in 2010. She has two children, four grandchildren and now she and Pat have a great grandson. Diane says her life as a fire chief's wife, and now as a member of the Response Support Team, is fulfilling and fun! She and Pat are members of First Baptist Church of Georgetown; she enjoys reading and travel.

Trenton Hernandez has been with the department for 13 years and was recently promoted to driver this year.  His wife and kids are his pride and joy.  He has been married to his best friend Rhea since 2010 and they have 2 children.  He loves helping his daughter's softball team and playing with his son.  His other hobbies including working on his 1954 Chevy 210 2-door sedan and playing softball.  He is currently on an all-firefighter men's slow pitch softball team that travels one time a year to compete in the Texas Firefighter Summer Games and they play in tournaments in Williamson County the rest of the year.

BJ Yerby2
BJ Yerby was born in Corsicana, Texas and served in the military during 1967 to 1969.  He then lived and worked in the Dallas area and started a painting company called PBJ Corporation.  His interests include riding Harleys, organic farming, writing and playing music, and he's an avid movie buff.  He and his wife Barbara moved from Decatur, Texas to Taylor in 2014.  BJ attended the Citizen's Fire Academy in 2015 and became a member of the Response Support Team upon graduation.

Dennis Falk is a founding member of our Response Support Team. He retired from the US Air Force in 1981 and lived in San Angelo until 2007 when he moved to Taylor. During his time in San Angelo, he worked At Shannon Hospital for 23 years and retired from there. Since he moved to Taylor, he had been looking for some way to help the community and found it with the Response Team. He enjoys woodworking, making pens and other small things, and riding his new motorcycle. He and his bride just celebrated 53 years of marriage and have a son, a daughter, 2 granddaughters, and 5 great grandchildren.

Firefighter Preston Muston is the newest member of the department after joining us in April of this year.  He was volunteering with the Rockdale Volunteer Firefighter Department before coming to Taylor and continues to assist there in his time off.  Preston and his wife stay busy with a 7 year old daughter and the newest addition to their family, a 3 month old son.  He also enjoys outdoor activities that include hunting, river fishing, and water skiing.

Sacheen Yates graduated from the City of Taylor Citizen’s Fire Academy in 2014 and is a founding member of the Taylor Fire Department Rehab Support Team eventually becoming head of the team. She grew up around fire trucks and loved spending time with her beloved grandfather, a 42-year member of a fire department in upstate New York. She enjoys spending time kayaking, cycling and working on her 1930’s home in Taylor. Sacheen is proud of her volunteer service working with hospice patients, homeless children and Habitat for Humanity. Her time as an elementary school mentor/tutor has been the most fun, the most fulfilling and the most challenging of all her passions.

Richard Thompson has been with the department since October and is enthusiastically living out his lifelong dream to become a firefighter.  He's been married for 6 years and has a 2 1/2 year old son.  In his spare time he likes to restore old cars and spend time outdoors camping.  Richard is also an avid gamer.

Firefighter Nolan Grimm joined the department last year and will be honored in a Pinning Ceremony next month with two fellow firefighters.  He completed his required training through the College Station Fire Academy (TEEX).  He enjoys bow and bass fishing in his time off.  Nolan is from West, Texas and still continues to commute from there - and yes, he is a big kolache fan!

April 2016

Trent Pokorny was hired last year and is our youngest firefighter.  Next month he will be one of three firefighters to end his probationary period with the department and be honored in a Pinning Ceremony.  Trent enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.  He also enjoys working on old cars and is currently refurbishing a '67 Chevelle and an '82 Chevy truck.

Lieutenant Brandon Sanders has been with the department for 17 years and proudly served on the Apparatus Committee that helped build the new engine that was purchased this year.  He has a green belt in karate and is an avid water skier. He also enjoys entering the annual Firefighter Games held in July in the archery division.  Brandon has two children and is married to Joanna, a fellow City employee with the police department.

Engineer Harry Robertson started his firefighting career 14 years ago when he joined the department after previously working at Williamson County Juvenile Services.  When he's off-duty, he enjoys hunting deer and hogs in the Hill Country and south Texas and is passionate about golf.  He's been married to his lovely wife Lisa for 20 years and they have 2 children, Logan and Kaylee.  

January 2016

Nathan Olson will be celebrating his first year with the department next month.  He worked diligently for over 3 years to achieve his goal of becoming a firefighter and is proud to serve Taylor.  He previously worked as an electrician and still currently holds a license in this field. He has been married for 11 years and is the father of 2 girls. He enjoys attending their cheerleading events and his hobbies include hiking and other outdoor activities.
