In 2004, Buxton was hired to develop a community ID and profile for use in establishing future economic development sites in the City of Taylor. The following information is a brief overview of the results of that study:

Retail Sites

The three sites identified by Taylor for study in Phase I are:
  • Main Street and Fourth Street
  • Carlos G. Parker Boulevard & State Highway 95
  • South Loop 79 and FM 973

Segmentation

Each household in the U.S. can be described by one of 50 segments, based upon its consumer habits and spending patterns. This graph depicts the segments by percent of total households that comprise the trade area for each retail site. Segmentation is important to retailers and is therefore a variable in our assessment of Taylor’s retail potential. A segment that represents at least 5% of a trade area is classified as a dominant segment.
